Pee Wee Minor Stars Win League Showcase

Pittsburgh, PA  - The Esmark Stars U11 (2011) Pee Wee Minor squad captured the second NAPHL 11U AAA Showcase Tournament of the season this past weekend, Feb 3 - 5,  in Pittsburgh.

The Stars opened the league event with a 2 - 0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite on Friday, Feb. 3. Tristan Waite and Micah Schenk scored the Stars goals. And Jake Gostic picked up an assist. Ixander Zamias earned the win and shut-out in goal.

The Stars would drop their second game on Friday, suffering a 3-1 loss to CarShield AAA. Tristan Waite would score the lone Stars goal with an assist from Maddox Pagley. Issac Heisel suffered the loss in goal.

The Stars closed round-robin play Saturday picking up a 13-0 shutout win over the Tri-State Spartans. Micah Schenk led the offense with a four goal and one assist performance. Maddox Pagley (2G, 1A), Jake Gostic (1G, 4A), Emily Schollaert (1G, 1A), Tristan Waite (1G, 1A), Nicolai Rosvanis (1G, 1A), Tyler Wingenroth (1G, 1A), Zarak Zamias, and Otto Kiehlmeier also scored goals for the Stars. Cohen Biddle picked up an assist. Ixander Zamias collected his second shutout and win of the tournament in goal for the Stars.

The win advanced the Stars to the championship game and a rematch with CarShield AAA.

Micah Schenk, who would score a pair of goals to pace the Stars offense, and goaltender Issac Heisel, who stopped all 18 CarShield shots he faced to record the win and shutout in goal, led the youngest Stars to the Championship banner. Tristan Waite (1G, 1A) and Emily Schollaert also scored goals for Esmark. While Tyler Avolia and Nicolai Rosvanis would add assists.
