16U & 18U in Troy For NAPHL Playoff Action; 15U in Action in Sylvania

The Esmark Stars AAA Hockey Clubs three midget teams (18U, 16U and 15U) are all in action this weekend, Feb. 19 - 21.

The 18U and 16U teams return to Troy, MI for the fifth and final NAPHL Showcase of the 2018-19 season, the Dixon Cup NAPHL Championships.

In the U16 division, Esmark will be pursuing their second NAPHL 16U AAA Dixon Cup in three years, as they captured the Cup at the 2016-2017 NAPHL Playoffs.

The Stars open the playoffs on Friday, Feb. 15 against the Green Bay (WI) Gamblers, 12:15 p.m. This will be the first meeting between the clubs this season.

The U16 Stars take to the ice twice on Saturday, Feb. 16, to complete round-robin play. First, 8:15 a.m., they square-off with the Florida Hockey Alliance. This will also be the first meeting between the Stars and Alliance. On Saturday afternoon, the Stars complete round-robin play against the Sioux Falls (SD) Power AAA.  Esmark defeated Sioux Falls 3-2 in overtime during their only previous meeting this season at NAPHL II in Blaine, MN, in Oct. of 2018.

Semi-final and consolation games will be announced post round-robin play. The U16 Championship game is set for 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, Feb. 17 at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, MI.

The U16 Stars will bring a 24-16-2-2 overall record into the NAPHL Playoffs.

In the U18 division, Esmark will be looking to repeat as NAPHL 18U AAA Dixon Cup Champions as they captured the Cup at the 2017-2018 NAPHL Playoffs.

The Stars take to the ice twice on Friday, Feb. 15 at the Troy Sports Complex in Troy, MI. First up are the Colorado Springs Tigers at 10:00 a.m. This will be the first meeting between the clubs this season. Later Friday afternoon, 6:00 p.m., the Stars return to action against the Florida Hockey Alliance. This will also be the first meeting between the Stars and Alliance.

On Saturday, Feb. 16, the Stars complete round-robin play against the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders with a 1:15 p.m. face-off.  Esmark fell 4-2 to Rocky Mountain in their only previous meeting this season at NAPHL II in Blaine, MN, in Oct. of 2018.

Semi-final and consolation games will be announced post round-robin play. The U18 Championship game is set for 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, Feb. 17 at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, MI.

The U18 Stars will bring a 36-11-1-1 overall record into the NAPHL Playoffs.

Also in action this weekend, the U15 Esmark Stars travel to Sylvania, OH for a pair of road games on Saturday, Feb. 16, 12:00 and 5:30 p.m. face-offs. The U15s enter the weekend with a 23-14-3-4 record after skating to a 4-4 with the Florida Hockey Alliance last weekend.
