U15 Stars Set for NAPHL Dixon Cup Playoffs

The Esmark Stars AAA Hockey Club returns to Troy, MI this weekend (Jan.18 - 21)  for the fourth NAPHL Showcase of the 2018-19 season.

In the U15 division, Esmark will pursue their first NAPHL Dixon Cup as the U15 division holds their 2018-19 U15 AAA championship playoffs.

The Stars open the playoffs on Friday, Jan. 18. First up is the Sioux Falls (SD) Power, 7:00 a.m., at the ONYX Rink in Rochester, MI. The Stars defeated the Power, 1-0, in their lone previous regular season meeting in Dallas at NAPHL III. On Friday afternoon, the Stars return to the ice at 2:10 p.m. against the Nashville Jr. Predators, at the ONYX Rink. The Stars defeated the Predators twice previously this season, 3-2 in overtime in early December at a showcase tournament and 3-2 in Oct at NAPHL II.

On Saturday, the Stars complete round-robin play against Meijer AAA.  Esmark's and Meijer's U15s have previously hooked up three times this season with Meijer claiming "W's" in all three previous games.  Meijer won there last meeting, 4-3, at the Legacy Mid-Winter Classic last weekend; grabbed a 2-1 win in Dallas in January during NAPHL III; and in their initial meeting of the season, Meijer won a semi-final game, 3-1, at the HoneyBaked / Compuware Invite.

Semi-final and consolation games will be announced post round-robin play. The U15 Stars will bring a 20-11-3-3 overall record into the NAPHL Playoffs.

Also this weekend the U16 and 18U Stars will be in Troy, MI, at the Troy Sports Complex for their final regular season showcase of the 2018-19.

On Saturday, Jan. 19, the U16 Stars will open the event, 9:15 a.m., against Pursuit of Excellence (British Columbia). Later on Saturday, the U16s return to the ice and face the Everett (WA) Silvertips, 7:00 p.m.

On Sunday, the U16s face the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders at 3:00 p.m. And on Monday, Jan. 21, the Stars will close the event with a 12:00 p.m. face-off against the Alaska Oilers.

The U16s will bring a 19-14-2-2 record to Troy.

On Saturday, the U18 Stars will open the event against Pursuit of Excellence (British Columbia), 1:00 p.m.. Later on Saturday, the U16s return to the ice and face the Everett (WA) Silvertips, 9:15 p.m.

On Sunday, the U18s face the Madison (WI) Capitols at 5:00 p.m. And on Monday, Jan. 21, the Stars will close the event with a 8:15 a.m. face-off against the Valley Forge Minutemen.

The U18s will bring a 29-8-1-1 record to Troy.
