This past weekend, Sept. 29 & 30, both the U16 and U18 AAA Esmark Stars were in action.
Esmark's U16 AAA Stars hosted Mid-Am District Rival Ohio AAA Blue Jackets for a pair of games at the Pittsburgh Ice Arena. Esmark skated to a 4-2 win on Saturday, behind the work of goaltender Connor Strobel. On Sunday, the Blue Jackets skated to an identical 4-2 win. With the weekend split, the U16 Stars overall record stands at 6-3-0-1. The U16s return to action this upcoming weekend, Oct. 5-7, in the Motor City as they participate in the Compuware / HoneyBaked Showcase Tournament.
Meanwhile, Esmark's U18 AAA Stars played a home and home series with the U18 AAA Pittsburgh Predators. The Stars claimed Saturday's road game at the Ice Castle Rink, skating to a 4-1 win. Raman Yerameichyk paced the Stars with a three-goal hat-trick. Danny Mitchell earned the win in goal. The Stars would open their home schedule and complete the weekend sweep with a 7-3 win over the Predators on Sunday at Pittsburgh Ice Arena. Gio Palombo and Tyler Stewart would lead the scoring effort as each collected a pair of goals. Parker Rey earned the win in goal for the Stars. The weekend series sweep improves the U18 Stars overall record to 7-4-0-1. The U18s will also be in Detroit this upcoming weekend, Oct. 5-7, as they participate in the Compuware / HoneyBaked Showcase Tournament.
