Esmark Stars Recap Feb. 10 - 11

U18, U15 & U14 IN ACTION

Three of the five Esmark Stars AAA teams were in action this past weekend, Feb. 10-11,  as the U14, U15 and U18 teams return to the ice.

The U14 Stars welcomed the Amherst Knights, Buffalo Saints, New Jersey Hitmen, Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Black, and Syracuse Stars to town for the Pittsburgh U14 AAA Showcase.  At the round-robin event, the Stars opened play dropping a tough 1-0 decision to the Amherst Knights on Saturday.  They returned to the ice later in late afternoon and were shutout by the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Black, 3-0.  On Sunday, the Stars returned to the win column, picking up wins over the Syracuse Stars, 6-4, and the Buffalo Saints, 6-0, on Sunday.  Following the split at the U14 Pittsburgh Showcase, the Stars U14 overall record stands at 36-19-3-1.

The U15 AAA Stars traveled to Cleveland, OH, to face a Mid-Am rival, the Cleveland Barons.  The Stars would drop both games to the Barons, losing 6-5 on Saturday, as the Barons overcame the Stars with a four-goal third period, and 6-1 on Sunday.  The two road losses dropped the Stars overall record to 24-23-4-3.

The U18 AAA Esmark Stars and U18 AAA Pittsburgh Vengeance faced each other in a home and home series.  On Saturday, the Stars skated to a 6-1 win on their home ice at the Pittsburgh Ice Arena.  On Sunday, the Stars picked up a 6-2 win at the Alpha Ice Complex in Harmarville.  The two game sweep, improved the Stars overall record to 28-14-2-6.

The U16 & U12 Stars had the weekend off.
