Esmark Set to Open the 2022-23 Season

Stars Set to Celebrate 38th Season

Pittsburgh, PA - The Esmark Stars AAA Hockey Program will open the 2022-23 season this upcoming weekend (Aug. 26 - 28) as they return to action to kick-off their 38th season.

The U18 Stars, again under the direction of veteran head coach Dave Kosick, will travel to New Jersey to open both their overall and Tier 1 Hockey Federation (T1HF) schedules Aug. 26 - 28. The Midget Major Stars open play and the season on Friday, Aug. 26, against the New Jersey Rockets, 1:40 p.m., at the Bridgewater Sports Arena, in Bridgewater, NJ. The two squads will tangle again on Saturday, Aug. 27, 10:35 a.m., at the Rock Ice Center in Dunellen, NJ. Later Saturday afternoon, 4:30 p.m., the Stars U18 team will face-off against Team Maryland, at the Twin Oaks Arena in Morristown, NJ. The 18U Stars wrap-up the weekend on Sunday, Aug. 28, with a rematch against Team Maryland at 2:00 p.m. back at the Twin Oaks Arena in Morristown.

Likewise, the U16 Stars, under head coach Yuri Krivokhija, will travel to New Jersey to open their overall and Tier 1 Hockey Federation (T1HF) schedules Aug. 26 - 28. The Midget Minor Stars open play and the season on Friday, Aug. 26, against the New Jersey Rockets, 11:40 a.m., at the Bridgewater Sports Arena, in Bridgewater, NJ. The two 16U squads will meet again on Saturday, Aug. 27, 8:40 a.m., at the Rock Ice Center in Dunellen, NJ. Later Saturday afternoon, 2:30 p.m., the Stars U16 team will face-off against Team Maryland, at the Twin Oaks Arena in Morristown, NJ. Esmark's 16U squad wraps-up the weekend on Sunday, Aug. 28, with a rematch against Team Maryland at 12:00 p.m. back at the Twin Oaks Arena in Morristown.

The U15 Stars, under direction of new head coach Chris Stern, open their overall and home schedule on Friday, Aug. 26, against the Cleveland Barons, 7:00 p.m., at the Pittsburgh Ice Arena, in New Kensington, PA. On Saturday, the 15 (Only) Stars head to New Jersey and open their road schedule and T1HF schedule with a 7:55 p.m. faceoff against the New Jersey Rockets 15 (Only) at the Bridgewater Sports Arena in Bridgewater, NJ. The two 15U squads close the two-game set on Sunday, Aug. 28, with a 1:40 p.m. back at the Bridgewater Sports Arena.

The Bantam Major U14 Stars, under the direction of new head coach Tony Trovato, will open their season and home schedule hosting Belle Tire's U14 AAA squad in a pair of games on Sunday, Aug. 28, at the Pittsburgh Ice Arena. Game one will face off at 8:00 a.m.  Game two will begin at 2:40 p.m. 

The Bantam Minor U13 Stars, under the direction of new head coach Dalton Moore, will be in St. Clair Shores, MI, for a five-game showcase, Aug. 26 - 28 to open their season.  First up on Friday, Aug. 26, will be a 10:30 a.m. face-off against the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets. Later on Friday, 8:00 p.m., the Stars Bantam Minor squad will face the Nashville Warriors. On Saturday, Esmark opens with the Tri-State Spartans 13U AAA at 10:00 a.m. Later Saturday afternoon, 2:30 p.m., the will play Belle Tire's U13 AAA squad. They close the Showcase on Sunday, 12:00 p.m. against the Oakland Jr Grizzlies U13 AAA squad. All games will be at the St. Clair Civic Center.

The U12 Esmark Stars AAA Pee Wee Major team, under the direction of new head coach Nate Nehnevajsa, will be in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan to participate in the seven-team President's Cup Tournament. They open play on Saturday, Aug. 27, 3:45 p.m., against Uzbekistan. On Sunday, Aug. 28, the Stars will face Romania at 8:45 a.m. Later Sunday afternoon, the Stars will square-off against Kazakstan II. On Monday, Aug. 29, the Stars face Kazakstan I at 10:30 a.m. Early Monday evening, 5:30 p.m., the Pee Wee Major Stars will face Latvia. They close the event on Tuesday, Aug. 30, with a 2:00 p.m. against the host Kyrgyzstan team, Alga.

The Stars U11 team, under the direction of CJ Stellabotte, do not open play until Sept. 9 and the SuperSeries Tournament in Boston, MA.
