Weekend Preview: Nov. 19 - 21

League and Tournament Action Highlight Weekend

The Esmark Stars AAA Hockey program will see five of its Tier I teams back in action this weekend, Nov. 19-21, including the U16 & U18 Stars in NAPHL league play and the U14 and U13 Esmark squads in Eastern Exposure Series Showcase action.

The Esmark U18 squad (14-3-2-1), will open the NAPHL - Pittsburgh event on Friday, Nov. 19, with a 4:00 p.m. opening face-off against the New Jersey Jr Titans (11-10-0-0). Then on Saturday, Nov. 20, the Stars will face the New Hampshire Avalanche (9-13-1-0) at 12:00 p.m. and the Maine Nordiques (18-8-3-0) at 8:00 p.m. The Midget Major Stars close the league showcase on Sunday, 1:00 p.m. versus the Indy Jr Fuel (7-16-3-1). All four games will be played at the Pittsburgh Ice Arena.

The Esmark U16 squad (15-4-1-2), will open the NAPHL - Pittsburgh event with a pair of games on Friday, Nov. 19, 12:00 p.m. against the Tri-State Spartans (3-18-1-1) and then at 8:00 p.m. against the New Jersey Jr Titans (10-13-1-0). On Saturday, the Stars will face the New Hampshire Avalanche (15-10-2-0) at 4:00 p.m. The Midget Minor Stars close the league showcase on Sunday, 11:15 a.m. against the Massachusetts based Northeast Generals (11-11-2-0). As with the U18 squad, all four games will be played at the Pittsburgh Ice Arena.

Meanwhile, the Stars Bantam squads (U14 and U13) will head east to western New Jersey and the Eastern Exposure Series. Esmark's U14 squad (10-8-6-0) will open play on Friday, 6:30 p.m., against the Mercer Chiefs (16-12-5-1). On Saturday, the Stars will play a pair of games, 2:00 p.m. against Team Maryland (15-11-2-0) and then at 8:00 p.m. against the New Jersey Colonials (11-16-1-0). They close their four-game showcase on Sunday, 7:15 a.m., against the Florida Alliance (11-8-3-0). All their games will be played at the ProSkate Ice Arena in Monmouth Junction, NJ.

Esmark's U13 squad (11-16-0-0) will open play on Friday with a pair of games, 9:40 a.m. at the Iceland Arena in Hamilton, NJ against the Rochester Americans (11-10-2-0) and then at 2:00 p.m. at the ProSkate Ice Arena in Monmouth Junction, NJ, against the Mercer Chiefs. On Saturday, the Stars will again play a pair of games, 7:40 a.m. against the Long Island Royals (9-11-1-0) and then at 4:00 p.m. against the New York Saints (10-12-4-0), both games at the Iceland Arena. They close their five-game showcase on Sunday, 9:00 a.m., against the Connecticut Jr Whalers (0-24-2-0) back at the Iceland Arena. 

The Stars U12 Pee Wee Major team, will head north on I-79 to Rochester, NY and a weekend triple-header with the Rochester Americans (18-11-5-1). On Saturday, the two Pee Wee Major squads will face-off at 1:00 and 4:30 p.m.  The two 2009 squads close the weekend with a 10:00 a.m. game on Sunday.  All three games will be played at the Rochester Ice Arena.

The U11 Stars (14-17-2-0) were likewise scheduled to travel to Rochester for a four-game weekend, with two games against the Rochester Americans on Saturday and two with the Rochester Coalition on Sunday, but the games have been cancelled.
