Stars 11U, 12U and 13U in action

The Esmark Stars AAA Hockey program had its three youngest teams (U11, U12, & U13) in action this past weekend, Sept. 25 - 26.

Esmark's U13 Bantam Minor team dropped a pair of road games to the Cleveland Barons 2008 squad, 1-0 and 5-3, at the Barons Bus Arena on Saturday, Sept. 25, but rebounded with a 5-0 shutout win over Team Maryland at the Pittsburgh Ice Arena on Sunday, Sept. 26

The Stars dropped a goaltender battle, 1-0, in the opener, at the Barons Bus Arena, despite an outstanding performance between the pipes by Jackson Johnston who turned aside 22 of the 23 shots he faced.

In the nightcap, the Barons would claim a 5-3 win. Ryan Crouse, Matt Lestitian and Synjun McHattie scored goals for the Stars. Sean Goodman (2A) and Alex Patsilevas picked up assists. Corbin Holt suffered the loss in goal, stopping 38 of 43 shots he faced in goal.

On Sunday, back in the friendly confines of Pittsburgh Ice Arena to kick-off their 2021-22 home schedule, the Stars blanked Team Maryland 5-0. Alex Patsilevas (2G), Ryan Crouse (2G) and Sean Goodman scored goals. Chase Secriskey (2A), Gus Coffield and Cain Phillip picked up assists. And Jackson Johnston earned both the win and shutout in goal, turning aside all 29 shots he faced in goal.

The (1-2-0-0) weekend leaves the Stars U13 Bantam Minor team with an (5-7-0-0) overall record.

The U12 Pee Wee Major AAA Esmark Stars split a pair of home games with the Washington Little Capitals at the Pittsburgh Ice Arena, dropping a 5-3 decision in the Saturday opener and picking up a 7-3 win on Sunday.

In the 5-3 loss, Connor Stivers (2G) and Chris Sargo (1G, 1A) scored for the Stars. Brody Pablic (2A), Jacob DeWitt, Jack Koerbel and Keita Komatsu picked up assists. Ben Wilson suffered the loss in goal.

In the 7-3 Sunday win, Jacob DeWitt (2G, 1A), Brody Pablic (1G, 1A), Cullen Carlson (1G, 2A), Keita Komatsu (1G, 1A), Chris Sargo (1G, 1A) and Maxsim Popienko scored for the Stars. Brody Boban (2A), Jack Koerbel (2A), William McKivigan, Daniel Maloney and Connor Stivers picked up assists. Jacob Johnson picked up the win in goal, stopping 26 of the 29 shots he faced.

The weekend split leaves the U12 Pee Wee Major AAA Esmark Stars with a  (3-6-1-0) overall record.

Likewise, the U11 Pee Wee Minor AAA Esmark Stars split a weekend series at the Pittsburgh Ice Arena with the Washington Little Capitals, dropping a 4-2 decision in the Saturday opener and picking up a 4-3 win on Sunday as they opened their 2021-22 home schedule.

In the 4-2 loss, Caden Biddle (1G, 1A) and Jordan Lucca scored for Esmark. Caleb Krynicky, Liam Fediaczko and Liam Lehneke picked up assists. And Xavier Haduch suffered the loss in goal.

In the Sunday 4-3 win, Joseph Alsippi, Caleb Krynicky, Royce Wiegand and Beau Ritson scored for the Stars. Jordan Lucca (2A), Xypher Zamias (2A), Alexander Hatajik and Cole Schwartz picked up assists. And Issac Heisel grabbed the win in goal, stopping 23 of 26 shots he faced.

The weekend split leaves the U11 Pee Wee Minor AAA Esmark Stars with a  (4-8-0-0) overall record.

The Stars U14 (4-2-3-0), U16 (10-1-1-0) and U18 (7-1-0-1) teams enjoyed the weekend off as they prepare for NAPHL II in St. Louis, MO, this upcoming weekend, Oct. 1-4.
