Exciting Esmark Stars AAA Action

The Esmark Stars AAA hockey program had all of its teams in action this past weekend. Jan. 6 & 7, 2021.

The Stars midget teams (18U, 16U and 15U) hosted Mid-Am District rival Cleveland Barons at the friendly confines of the Pittsburgh Ice Arena, in New Kensington, PA, this past Saturday and Sunday.

The U15 Stars picked up a pair of home wins over the U15 Barons, 2-1 on Saturday and 4-1 on Sunday.

The (2-0-0-0) showing improves the U15 Stars overall record to (22-19-2-1).

Likewise, the U16 Stars picked up a pair of home wins over the Barons, 1-0 on Saturday and 4-2 on Sunday.

On Saturday, the Stars rode a 23 save shutout performance from Blaise Becker to a 1-0 win.  Shane Kozlina scored the lone Stars goal with an assist to Owen Tutich.  The shutout was Becker's sixth of the season.

On Sunday, Brody Simko, Jacob Meier, Sebasitian Vogt and and Chase Williams scored goals in the Stars 4-2 win.  Ilya Zhdanov and Shane Kozlina picked up assists.  Nikita Volski earned the win in goal, stopping 32 of 34 Barons shots he faced.

The (2-0-0-0) showing improves the U16 Stars overall record to (24-15-3-0).

The U18 Stars completed the home sweep of the Barons, grabbing a 5-1 win on Saturday and a 7-1 win on Sunday.

On Saturday, Brayden Morgan (1G, 1A), Ethan Zupanc (1G, 1A), Justin Mettrick, Hunter Fairmain and and Zachary Stoner found the back of the net in the Stars 5-1 win.  Yahor Ramanau, Adis Ultanbekov, John Camp, Keith Smilowitz, Shane Miller and Regan Kalis picked up assists.  Nathan Dickey earned the win in goal, stopping 24 of 25 Barons shots he faced.

On Sunday, Michael Felsing (1G, 2A), Keith Smilowitz (1G, 1A), Dominic Dezort (1G, 1A), Adis Ultanbekov (1G, 1A), Justin Mettrick, Shane Miller and Ed Pazo scored goals in the Stars Midget Major team's 7-1 win.  Ethan Zupanc (2A) Yahor Ramanau, Hunter Fairmain, John Camp, Brayden Morgan and Zachary Stoner all picked up assists.  Connor Strobel earned the win in goal, stopping 15 of 16 Barons shots he faced.

The (2-0-0-0) showing improves the U18 Stars overall record to (32-13-4-0).

The U12 Esmark Stars traveled to Warminster, PA, and faced the Philadelphia Jr Revolution in a weekend triple-header.  The Stars grabbed a pair of wins on Saturday, 8-3 and 7-1.  On Sunday, the Revolution captured the finale of the weekend, 5-2. 

In the opening game on Saturday, Joey Moore III (4G, 3A) and Alex Patsilevas (3G, 3A) sparked the offense, posting a seven-point and six-point game respectfully in a 8-3 win.  Chase Secriskey also scored for the Stars.  Sean Goodman and Travis Covelli added assists.  Gio Scally stopped 17 of 20 shots he faced to get the win in goal.

In the Saturday nightcap, Joey Moore III (4G) struck for four more goals to lead the offense in a 7-1 win.  Sean Goodman (1G, 1A), Matthew Lestitian (1G, 1A), and Chase Secriskey (1G, 1A) also scored goals for the Pee Wee Major Stars.  Alex Patsilevas (5A), Raymond Trovato (2A), and Travis Covelli added assists.  Corbin Holt stopped 14 of 15 shots he faced to grab the win in goal.

On Sunday, Christopher Moran and Chase Secriskey scored for the Stars in their 5-2 loss.  Kaden Lyons, Matthew Lestitian and Ryan Crouse added assists.  Both Corbin Holt and Gio Scally saw time in goal, with Holt suffering the loss in goal.

The (2-1-0-0) showing improves the U12 Stars overall record to (19-16-1-0).
