Stars Open 2021 Portion of Schedule

The Esmark Stars AAA Hockey program kicked off the 2021 portion of the 2020-2021 season this past weekend, Jan 2 & 3, as the Star's 12U and 15U teams returned to action to welcome the New Year.

The U15 Esmark Stars traveled to Leesburg, VA and squared-off with the U15 Washington Little Capitals in a pair of weekend games.

On Saturday, Jan. 2,  the home-standing Little Capitals grabbed the opening game 3-1.  Marcel Gataulin scored the lone Stars goal.  Andrew Krakora suffered the loss in goal, despite turning aside 17 of 20 shots he faced.

On Sunday, Jan. 3, the Stars grabbed a 5-0 shutout win to earn the split of the two-game series.  Billy Kiray (2G, 1A) led the offensive attack.  Zakary Wilcox, Luke Yost and Caden Lindo Canfield also scorfed goals, with Lindo Canfield's coming on the power play.  Nathan Burlando, Robert Kelly, Braden Burkey and Alexander Thomas all picked up assists.  Ian Amaranto stopped all 18 Capitals shots he faced to earn the win and shutout in goal.

The split leaves the U15 Esmark Stars overall record at (13-15-0-1).

Meanwhile, the U12 Stars returned to action as they traveled to Findlay, OH for a pair of games versus the Compuware 2008 club.

The two Pee Wee Major clubs kicked-off the Saturday double-header late in the morning on Saturday, Jan.2, at the Findlay Recreational Center, skating to a 6-1 win over Compuware. Connor Stivers, Chase Secriskey, Alex Patsilevas, and Joseph Moore III each scored a goal and added an assist.  Moore's and Patsilevas can with the man-advantage.  And Sean Goodman and Raymond Trovato each scored a goal.  Ryan Crouse picked up an assist.  Gio Scally stopped 24 of 25 shots he faced to earn the win in goal.

Saturday evening, 8:00 p.m., the two clubs returned to the ice for game two of the double-header, with Compuware grabbing a 5-4 win.  Alex Patsilevas and Joseph Moore III each scored a pair of goals.  Raymond Trovato, Chase Secriskey, Travis Covelli and Ryan Crouse all earned assists.  Gio Scally stopped 25 of the 30 shots Compuware registered, including an empty-net goal, but suffered the loss in goal.

The split leaves the U12 Esmark Stars overall record at (14-11-1-0).

The U16 (18-10-1-0) and U18 Stars (22-12-2-0) Midget teams enjoyed a weekend off before kicking off the 2021 portion of their schedule.
