Stars Teams in Action

The Esmark Stars AAA Hockey program had all four of its teams (U18, U16, U15 and U12) in action this past weekend, Nov. 6 - 8.

The Stars midget teams all participated in the Steel City Showcase, presented by Midwest Hockey Development, in some degree, and the Pee Wee Stars ventured over the state border for a pair of road games with Team Ohio's '08 squad.

The U15 Stars dropped a 3-2 decision to the Nashville Jr. Predators on Saturday evening, as part of the Showcase.  Nathan Burlando and Caden Lindo Canfield scored for the Stars. Andrew Krakora stopped 20 of 22 shots he faced, but suffered the loss in goal.

On Sunday, Nov. 8, the U15 Stars dropped a 4-2 decision to the nation's #19 ranked New Jersey Rockets at the Pittsburgh Ice Arena in a non-Showcase home game.  Billy Kiray III (1G, 1A) and Nathan Burlando scored goals for the Stars.  Zakary Wilcox, Joshua Coffee and Caden Lindo Canfield picked up assists. Ian Amaranto suffered the loss in goal, stopping 19 of the 23 shots he faced.

The weekend's results dropped the U15 Stars to an overall record of (11-12-0-1).

Likewise, Esmark's 16U AAA squad returned to action this past weekend as they play a pair of games in the Steel City Showcase. Saturday evening the Stars skated to a 6-1 win over over the Syracuse (NY) Nationals  at the Alpha Ice Complex in Harmarville, PA.  Austin Peterson and Brody Simko each scored a pair of goals and Ivar Westerman and Owen Tutich chipped in a goal each. Milan Levchenko, Joe Pankowski, Tristan lloyd and Chase Williams all picked up assists.  Blaise Becker stopped 15 of 16 shots he faced to earn the win in goal.

On Sunday morning, the U16 Stars dropped a 4-1 decision to the the nation's #15 ranked Nashville Jr Predators at the Alpha Ice Complex.  Milan Levchenko scored the lone goal for the Stars, on the powerplay and Chase Williams picked up the helper.  Nikita Volski stopped 24 of the 28 Nashville shots he faced, but suffered the loss in goal.

The weekend split lands the U16 Stars overall record of (11-8-0-0).

The U18 AAA Stars were also in action this weekend at the Steel City Showcase. The U18 Stars opened their Showcase schedule on Friday, with a 2-1 win over the Tri-State (OH) Spartans at the Pittsburgh Ice Arena. John Camp and Ryder Brophy scored goals for the Stars. Egor Busygin, Adis Ultanbekov, Dominic Dezort and Regan Kallis picked up assists.  Nathan Dickey earned the win in goal, stopping 20 of the 21 shots he faced.

The Stars retook the ice late Saturday morning and dropped a 4-1 decision to the nation's #15 ranked Nashville (TN) Jr Predators at the Alpha Ice Complex in Harmarville. Michael Felsing scored the lone Stars goal, with an assist from Ryder Brophy.  Ethan Isaly allowed three goals and suffered the loss in goal, stopping 20 of the 23 Predators shots he faced.  Nashville, who also scored an empty-net goal, found the back of the net three times in the last four minutes to break open a 1-1 game.

Saturday evening the Stars and the nation's #9 ranked Belle Tire (MI) AAA Hockey squared-off with Belle Tire grabbing a 2-1 win at the Alpha Ice Complex.  Justin Mettrick scored the Stars goal with Hunter Fairman and Ed Pazo getting assists. Nathan Dickey suffered his first loss of the season in goal, despite stopping 28 of 30 Belle Tire shots he faced, as Belle Tire overcame a 1-0 first period deficit, scoring once in both the second and third periods.

The Stars completed their Showcase schedule Sunday morning with a 2-0 win over the Tri-State Spartans at the Pittsburgh Ice Arena. Hunter Fairman and Dominic Dezort scored the Stars goals. Egor Busygin, Justin Mettrick, Regan Kallis and Michael Felsing picked up assists.  Ethan Islay picked up the win and shutout in goal for the Stars, stopping all 19 Spartans shots he faced as the Stars outshot the Spartans 33 - 19 for the game.

The weekend split leaves the U18 Stars with an overall record of (13-7-0-1).

The U12 Esmark Stars traveled across the State border and played a pair of games against Team Ohio's '08 squad.  In game one, the Stars grabbed a 3-2 win as Chase Secriskey, Ryan Crouse and Joseph Moore III scored goals. Raymond Trovato (2A) and Connor Stivers earned assists. Corbin Holt earned the win in goal, turning aside 20 of the 22 shots he faced.

In the second game, the Stars offense opened up and grabbed a 8-3 win. Ryan Crouse and Joseph Moore III paced the offense as each scored a pair of goals and added an assist.  Alex Patsilevas (1G, 4A), Chase Secriskey (1G, 1A), Matthew Lestitian and Connor Stivers also scored goals for the Stars. Sean Goodman (3A) and Kaden Lyons chipped in assists.  And Gio Scally stopped 21 of 24 shots to earn the win in goal.

The weekend sweep improved the U12 Esmark Stars overall record to (11-9-0-0).
