Recap: Esmark Stars Oct. 16 - 18

12U, 15U and 18U in Action

The Esmark Stars AAA Hockey program had three of its teams in action this past weekend, Oct. 16 - 18.

The U15 Stars traveled to Nashville, TN, for the four-game TPH College Showcase event.  They opened their showcase schedule with a 2-0 shutout win over the U15 Rocky Mountain (CO) Rough Riders AAA Friday morning. Later Friday afternoon, the Stars grabbed a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles (CA) Kings U15 AAA.  On Saturday, Esmark's U15 squad dropped a 6-3 decision to the Milwaukee (WI) Admirals U15 AAA.  The Stars U15 team closed their Nashville trip with a 3-0 shutout win over the Anaheim (CA) Ducks U15 AAA.

The 3-1-0-0 showing improves the U15 Stars overall record to 8-9-0-1.

Esmark's U18 Midget Major club (7-5-1-0) traveled to Leesburg, VA for a pair of weekend road games against the Washington Little Capitals U18 AAA squad.

On Saturday, the Stars grabbed a 4-1 win, as they outshot the Caps 48-16. Egor Busygin (1G, 1A), Justin Mettrick, Adis Ultanbekov and Zachary Stoner scored for the Stars. Stoner and Busygin each scoring on the power play, as the Stars went 2 for 4 with the man-advantage. Hunter Fairman (2A), John Camp, Cole Mitchell, Ethan Zupanc, and Dominic Dezort all collected assists. Ethan Isaly earned the win in goal, stopping 15 of 16 shots he faced.

On Sunday, the Midget Major Stars continued the offensive attack, outshooting the Caps 46 - 12 and skating to a 5-1 win. Keith Smilowitz paced the offense with a pair of goals. Hunter Fairman (1G, 1A), Shane Miller and Dominic Dezort each scored a power play goal as the Stars again took advantage of their power play opportunities, going 3 for 4 with the man-advantage.  Yahor Ramanau, Egor Busygin, Liam Varmecky, Zachary Stoner, Ethan Zupanc, Ed Pazo and Ryder Brophy all collected assists. Nikita Volski stopped 11 of the 12 shots he faced to get the win in goal.

The sweep of the Caps improved the U18 Stars overall record to 9-5-1-0.

The U12 AAA Stars traveled to York, PA, for a pair of games against Team Maryland on Saturday.

The Stars captured game one 5-4 on Saturday afternoon as Sean Goodman (2G, 1A)  paced the offensive attack with a pair of goals. Joseph Moore III (1G, 1A), Alex Patsilevas (1G, 1A) and Ryan Crouse also scored for the Stars.  Chase Secriskey (2A), Conner Stivers (2A) and Gavin Grant picked up assists.  Corbin Holt earned the win in goal, turning aside 24 of the 28 shots he faced.

The Stars completed the sweep with a 4-3 win over Team Maryland in the second game on Saturday.  Joseph Moore III (1G, 1A), Alex Patsilevas (1G, 1A), Sean Goodman and Ryan Crouse scored for the Stars who roared back from a 2-0 first period deficit with three goals in the second period. Chase Secriskey (2A) and Conner Stivers picked up assists.  Gio Scally stopped 40 of 43 shots he faced, including 16 of 17 in the third period, to get the win in goal.

The sweep of Team Maryland improves the U12 Stars overall record to 7-7-0-0.

The U16 Midget Minor Stars enjoyed a weekend off.
