Stars Midgets (18U, 16U & 15U) NAPHL II League Play; U12s also in Action

The Esmark Stars AAA Hockey program had all four teams in action this past weekend, as the the Stars Midget teams (U15, U16 and U18) traveled to St. Louis, MO, Oct. 2-4, for the second NAPHL (North American Prospects Hockey League) Showcase of the 2020-2021 season, featuring action in the league's High Performance Central Division, and the 12U Pee Wee Major squad traveled to Cleveland to face the Tri-State Spartans.

The U16 Stars opened the St. Louis NAPHL event dropping a tough 5-2 decision to Northstar Christian Academy Knights on Friday. Austin Peterson and Derek Pietrzyk scored for the Stars. Liam McClaine, Joey Pankowski, Tristan Lloyd and Jacob Meier picked up assists. Nikita Volski suffered the loss in goal as Northstar scored three third-period goals to break open a 2-2 tie.

The Stars picked up a pair of wins on Saturday. First they skated to a 5-3 win over CarShield (MO) AAA as Zak Hixon (1G, 1A) led the offensive attack. Brody Simko, Sebastian Vogt, Shane Kozlina and Liam McClain also scored goals for the Stars. Chase Williams picked up two assists and Jacob Meier also earned a helper. Blaise Becker earned the win in goal.

Saturday night, the Stars skated to a 7-1 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers.  Seven different Stars found the back of the net, as Logan Scanlon (1G, 2A), Derek Pietrzyk (1G, 1A), Chase Williams (1G, 1A), Brody Simko (1G, 1A), Milan Levcenko, Owen Tutich, and Joseph Pankowski each scored a goal. Jacob Meier (2A), Liam McClain, Chase Stormer and Sebastian Vogt earned assists. Nikita Volski earned the win in goal.

The Stars closed the St. Louis event with a 4-2 win over the Indy (IN) Jr. Fuel. Tristan Lloyd led the offensive attack with a goal and an assist. Brody Simko, Logan Scanlon and Chase Williams also scored goals for the Stars. Zachary Hixon picked up an assist. And Blaise Becker earned the win in goal.

The 3-1-0-0 showing in St. Louis improved the U16 Stars overall record to  7-5-0-0 and their NAPHL record to 6-2-0-0.

The U15 Stars open the St. Louis event with a pair of games on Friday. They dropped their opening game 3-2 to the event host CarShield AAA. Zak Wilcox and Caden Lindo Canfield scored goals for the Stars and Billy Kiray III picked up an assist. Andrew Krakora suffered the loss in goal.

The 15U Stars returned to the ice Friday evening and picked up a win as they skated to a 3-1 win over the Indy Jr Fuel. Aiden Yakovich, Braden Burkey and Caden Lindo Canfield scored for the Stars. Davis Phanco and Billy Kiray III picked up assists.  Ian Amaranto stopped 24 of the 25 shots he faced to earn the win in goal.

On Saturday, the U15 Stars dropped a 5-2 decision to the Des Moines (WI) Buccaneers. Nathan Burlando and Luke Yost scored for the Stars. Davis Phanco and Joshua Coffee earned assists. Andrew Krakora suffered the loss in goal as Des Moines struck for a pair of goals in the third period.

Esmark's U15 squad closed the second NAPHL showcase dropping a 5-1 decision to CarShield AAA. Davis Phanco scored for the Stars. Luke Yost earned the assist. Ian Amaranto suffered the loss in goal.

The 1-3-0-0 weekend showing leaves the Stars with an overall record of 5-8-0-1 and their NAPHL league record of 3-4-0-1.

The U18 Stars opened the St. Louis NAPHL event dropping a 3-0 shutout decision to the host CarShield AAA on Friday. Ethan Isaly suffered the loss in goal.

On Saturday, the Stars skated to a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Blues. Michael Felsing and Keith Smilowitz scored for the Stars. Yahor Ramanau, John Camp, Ethan Zupanc and Dominic Dezort earned assists. Nikita Volski earned the win in goal. The Blues, of the Tier One Elite Hockey League (TOEHL), replaced the Stars scheduled opponent, Indy (IN) Jr. Fuel.

The Stars returned to the ice Saturday evening and dropped a 4-3 decision to the league leading Northstar Christian Academy (MN) Knights.  Justin Mettrick, Adis Ultanbekov and Dominic Dezort scored for the Stars. Liam Varmecky (2A), John Camp, Shane Miller, Ethan Zupanc and Ed Pazo earned assists. Ethan Isaly suffered the loss in goal.

Esmark's U18 squad closed the St. Louis NAPHL showcase on Sunday with a 4-3 overtime win over the Des Moines (IA) Buccaneers.  Ed Pazo (1G, 2A), Michael Felsing (1G, 1A) and Dominic Dezort (1G, 1A) all scored in regulation, as Dezort tied the game at 3-3 with a powerplay goal with less than two minutes remaining in regulation. Zachary Stoner brought the U18 Stars home as winners, scoring the game winning goal 1 minute and 16 seconds into overtime, as he converted a nice pass from Pazo to end the game. Yahor Ramanau was also credited with an assist in regulation play. Ethan Isaly earned the win in goal.

The 2-2-0-0 weekend showing leaves the Stars with an overall record of 6-4-0-0 and their NAPHL league record of 5-3-0-0.

Meanwhile, the U12 AAA Stars traveled to Wooster, OH for a pair of games against the 2008 Tri-State Spartans on Sunday at the Alice Noble Ice Arena in Wooster, OH.

The Stars skated to a 6-1 win over the Spartans in game one as Joseph Moore III scored a three-goal hat-trick to lead the offense.  Alex Patsilevas (1G, 3A), Chase Secriskey (1G, 2A), and Ryan Crouse (1G, 1A) also scored goals.  Sean Goodman added a pair of assists. Gio Scally earned the win in goal.

The Stars skated to a 7-3 win in the second game. Connor Stivers scored a three-goal hat-trick to pace the Stars offensive attack. Chase Secriskey (2G, 2A), Ryan Crouse (1G, 1A), and Joseph Moore III (1G, 1A) also scored goals. Alex Patsilevas  picked up four assists and Christopher Moran added an assist. Corbin Holt earned the win in goal.

The sweep of the Spartans improves the U12 Stars overall record to 4-4-0-0.
