Recap: Esmark Stars Sept. 5 - 6

Stars and Barons Split

This past weekend (Sept. 5 & 6), the Esmark Stars AAA Hockey program kicked-off their 36th season with a trip to Cleveland, OH, as the U15, U16 and U18 Stars took to the road to face the Cleveland Barons and begin the 2020-2021 regular season.

The U15 Barons skated to a 3-1 win over the Stars to kick-off the triple header on Saturday.  Robert Kelly scored for the Stars and William Kiray III earned the lone assist.  Ian Amaranto suffered the loss in goal, turning aside 25 of the 28 shots he faced.

On Sunday the Stars  returned  the favor as Caden Lindo Canfield scored a late third period goal and Esmark's U15 squad earned their first win of the season, 1-0.  Davis Phanco and Robert Kelly picked up assists. Andrew Krakora earned the win and shutout in goal, stopping all 29 shots he faced.

At the U16 level, the Barons captured a 2-0 shutout win on Saturday.  Blaise Becker suffered the loss in goal, stopping 29 of 31 shots he faced.  On Sunday, Esmark's U16 squad picked up their initial win of the season as they skated to a 5-0 shutout win over the Barons.  Brody Simko, scored twice, Milan Levcenko added a goal and an assist, and Joe Pankowski and Liam McClain each added goals.  Shane Kozlina recorded three assists, and Zach Hixon, Sebastian Vogt, Jacob Meier and Austin Peterson each added an assist. Blaise Becker evened his record and earned the win and shutout in goal, stopping all 36 shots he faced.

The U18 Stars opened the weekend series with a 4-2 win over the Barons.  Shane Miller and Dominic Dezort each scored a goal and an assist. Yahor Ramanau and Keith Smilowitz each added a goal. Michael Felsing recorded a pair of assists, and Justin Mettrick and John Camp added assists. Nathan Dickey earned the win in goal stopping 14 of the 16 shots he faced.  On Sunday, the Barons turned the tables and skated to a 3-2 win.  Hunter Fairman and John Camp scored goals for the Stars. Michael Felsing, Dominic Dezort and Cole Mitchell picked up assists. Ethan Isaly suffered the loss in goal, stopping 10 of 13 shots he faced. 

The U12 Esmark Stars enjoyed the weekend off.  They open their 2020-2021 season this weekend, Sept. 12 & 13, in Cleveland against the Barons.
