Nilan Nagy Joins Staff as Skills Coach

The Esmark Stars AAA Hockey Organization are proud to announce the addition of former Stars player Nilan Nagy to their coaching staff.

Nagy, who will be working as a skills coordinator / coach with all of Esmark's teams, was an assistant captain of the 2007-08 U16 Stars and helped lead the club to the USA Hockey National Championships.

After midget hockey, Nagy went on to play a season for the Traverse City North Stars of the NAHL and the following season with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL.

Post Junior hockey, he played Division I Hockey for four years at Holy Cross University.

After graduating from Holy Cross, Nagy spent a couple of seasons in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) with the Alaska Aces and Wheeling Nailers.

He then moved on to play professional hockey in Europe and spent the past four seasons with Újpesti Torna Egylet (UTE) in Budapest, Hungary in the Erste Liga.

The Covid-19 Pandemic has kept Nagy States-side.

"We are delighted to add Nilan to our staff," said Stars General Manager Dave Kosick. "His progression from Midget hockey through the NAHL and USHL to NCAA Division I Hockey and then professional hockey is a great story."

"He will be able to not only work with our players on their hockey skills," Kosick added.  "But perhaps more importantly, he will be a great resource for our players and organization to discuss and understand the nuances of the pathways from amateur hockey to Junior, Collegiate and Professional hockey."
