Recap: Esmark Stars Feb. 1 - 2

18, 16 and 15U teams all in action

Esmark's three Midget teams were all home at the Pittsburgh Ice Arena this past weekend, Feb. 1 - 2, 2020, as the U15 AAA, U16 AAA and U18 AAA Hockey clubs each hosted a weekend series.

The U15 Stars welcomed the nation's 16th ranked Tier I U15 team, the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets, into Pittsburgh for a weekend series, the first of a home-and-home series with the Jackets on Saturday, and dropped a 4-0 decision. Fedor Tabako suffered the loss in goal.

On Sunday, the two 15U clubs concluded the Pittsburgh end of the home-and-home series as the Jackets skated to a 3-1 road win. Tristan Lloyd scored the lone Stars goal. And goaltender Paul Potosnak suffered the loss for the Stars.

The pair of home losses drops the U15 Stars overall record to (21-20-2-2).

The U16 Stars welcomed the U16 York SkipJacks into Pittsburgh for a weekend series and the Stars grabbed a 4-0 win on Saturday. Adis Ultanbekov (1G, 1A0, Conall Quish, Ethan Zupanc and Kamil Zainullin scofed for Esmark. Egor Ramanau (2A), Keith Smilowitz, Nolan Merulli, and Hunter Fairman each added assists. Nathan Dickey earned the win and shutout in goal for the Stars.

The two 16U AAA midget minor clubs concluded their two-game series on Sunday, and the Stars exploded offensively skating to a 10-1 win. Justin Mettrick and Ethan Zupanc led the offensive attack scoring two goals and adding an assist each. Also scoring goals for the Stars were Alex Keller (1G, 2A), Neil Domico (1G, 1A), Nolan Merulli (1G, 1A), Grant Parshall, Shane Miller and Conall Quish. Egor Ramanau and Adis Ultanbekov each collected three assists, while Keith Smilowitz, Liam Varmecky and Egor Busygin also added an assist each. Logan Marnik recorded the win in goal. 

The weekend sweep improved the U16 Stars overall record to (32-15-2-2).

Likewise, the U18 Stars and U18 SkipJacks hooked up for a weekend series. On Saturday, the SkipJacks skated to a 4-1 road win. John Camp scored the lone Stars goal. Trent Gray and Brayden Morgan picked up assists. Connor Strobel suffered the loss in goal for the Stars.Likewise, the U18 Stars and U18 SkipJacks hooked up for a weekend series. On Sunday the two midget major squads concluded their weekend series as the Skipjacks skated to a 3-2 win and weekend sweep of the Stars. Dustin Geregach (1G, 1A) and Jon Michaels scored goals for Esmark, while Ed Pazo (2A) and Ryder Brophy picked up assists. Danny Mitchell suffered the loss in goal.

The pair of home losses drops the U18 Stars overall record to (38-6-5-3).
