Stars Mourn Young Minnesota Hockey Player

The Esmark Stars AAA Hockey club join with the Grand Rapids Amateur Hockey Association, in Grand Rapids, MN, and our nation's amateur hockey community and as we mourn the passing of young Marshall Bader.

The 9-year-old member of the Grand Rapids organization was killed this past Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020, in an accident on his family's farm in Boy River, Minn., a town of 47 residents about 185 miles northwest of the Twin Cities.

"We join with the North American hockey world ... and we ask our families to honor Marshall by leaving a stick outside their front door so that he knows he can in spirit, pick up a stick and jump into the game," said program general manager Dave Kosick.

The "stick's out" initiative came to the forefront of the hockey community as a means of paying honor to the victims of the Humboldt Broncos Junior Hockey team bus crash in April of 2018.
