U14 Stars Impress with Boston Showing

Adavance to Tournament Semi-Finals

The U14 AAA Esmark Stars traveled off to Boston, MA, for the 20th annual Tier One Faceoff Tournament over the Labor Day weekend and completed round-robin play undefeated (4-0-1), finishing atop their bracket and advancing to the semi-finals as the number one seed in the U14 Bantam Major Elite Bracket.

The Stars opened round-robin play with a resounding 11-1 win over the Worchester Jr. Whalers on Friday evening.  In game two, on Saturday morning they skated to a 2-2 tie with the Bay State Breakers. They returned to the ice three hours later and skated past the Connecticut Chiefs, 4-2.

On Sunday, the Stars closed round-robin play and secured the top seed in their bracket with a pair of wins ... first over the Jersey Hitmen (5-3), and then the South Shore Kings, 6-3, in a division cross-over game. The Kings who go on tho finish as the number one seed in the opposite division.

In the semi-finals, the U14 Stars dropped a tough 4-3 decision in overtime to Team Maryland and were eliminated.

South Shore would go on to capture the division championship with a 5-0 blanking of Team Maryland.

The U14 Stars return to action with a pair of road games in Columbus, OH, on Saturday, Sept. 16 against the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets.
