Former Stars Defenseman Commits to Buffalo State

Zack to continue his hockey at collegiate level

Former Esmark Stars defenseman Brendon Zack, has committed to play NCAA hockey next season for the Buffalo State College Bengals.

Post his career with the Stars AAA program, Zack signed with and went on to play junior hockey for the Hampton Roads Jr. Whalers of the USPHL.

This past season, the  6’0, 185 lbs. veteran defenseman was named team captain of the Whalers. In 47 games this season. He averaged a point a game, recording 17 goals and 30 assists (47 points), including six (6) goals and 11 assists on the power play, five (5) game winning goals and 40 penalty minutes. He finished first in scoring among defenseman and seventh overall for the Jr. Whalers. 

During his two seasons with the Whalers, Zack recorded 83 points in 91 career games (25 goals and 58 assists), including 10 power play goals, 19 power play assists, one (1) shorthanded goal, six (6) game winning goals, and 64 penalty minutes.

He was named as a USPHL Elite All-Star during both of his USPHL season’s, and  finished as the runner-up for USPHL defenseman of the year last season while helping lead the Whalers to the USPHL Elite championship.

“Brendon is a solid defenseman with a wicked shot,” stated Whalers head coach Rod Taylor.  “He has always been an offensive threat to the opposition being one of the league’s top scoring defenseman.  He has a strong hockey sense and a never say die attitude.  Brendon is a player with heart and it shows on and off the ice, he is the type of player that every coach wants and enjoys coaching.  I wish Brendan all the best at Buffalo State!”

Buffalo State College is located in Buffalo, NY, and competes in the NCAA SUNYAC conference.
