With an exciting 2-1 win over the Kansas City Mavericks in the tournament championship game, the Esmark Stars U14 Bantam Major AAA team won the One Hockey Toledo Top Shelf Tournament in Toledo, Ohio.

The Stars opened the President's Day weekend tournament, in what would turn out to be a prelude to the championship game, with a round-robin game against Kansas City.  The Mavericks would win the round-robin opener, 7 - 3, over the Stars.

In game two, Esmark would rebound, and even their tournament record to 1-1-0, with a 3 - 2 win over the Pittsburgh Predators.

In their third game, the Stars would capture their second win of the event with a 4 - 2 win over the Southern Tier Express.

The final game of round-robin play would see the Stars record drop to 2-2-0 after dropping a tough 4 - 3 decision to the Twin Bridges (IL) Lightning.

With round-robin play completed and the Stars seeded as the number three team for playoff action ... the road map to the tournament title would require rematches with both teams that got the best of them in round-robin play.

First up, Twin Bridges in the semi-finals. The Stars would capture this round, and a spot in the championship game, with a 2-0 shutout win.

Having advanced to the tournament championship game, it was time for the young Stars to again face top-seeded Kansas City. The Stars completed their two-game redemption tour and earned their first tournament title of the season with a hard fought 2-1 win over the Mavericks.
