Ulan Honored by NAPHL

16U Goalie Recognized for his performance

The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) has announced its Apex Learning Virtual School Peak Performers for the month of September. 

Adam Ulan, goaltender on the 16U AAA Esmark Stars club, was selected as the 16U division's number two star, goaltender, for his performance in the league's opening showcase of the season, which took place at the NAHL Showcase at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, MN, Sept. 22 - 25, 2016.

Ulan appeared in two of the Stars four games at the opening showcase and picked up a pair of shut-out wins over the Janesville (WI) Jets (4-0) and the Northern Cyclones (MA) (6-0).

"Adam turned in a solid performance and gave us a chance to win both games," said head coach Yuri Krivokhija. "Any time you turn in consecutive shutouts you have to be on your game."

Overall, Ulan has posted a 7-1-0-0- record, 1.85 GAA (goals against average), a 90% save percentage, and four shutouts to open the season.

On the young season, the U16 AAA Stars are off to a fast start, posting a 15-3-1-0 record, including capturing the title at the prestigious Tier I Labor Day Tournament in Boston, MA, at the beginning of Sept.

They concluded the opening NAPHL league showcase with a 2-2-0-0 record. A scheduled fifth game for the event was cancelled due to weather related issues and will be played at a later league showcase.

"Peak Performers" for NAPHL events are selected by the league's central scouting bureau and are based upon player performance at each league showcase. event.

The NAPHL is comprised of five regular-season events leading up to its Championship Tournament Series in which the top teams in each division compete for a league championship. The second NAPHL event of the 2016-17 season will be the 2016 NAPHL Showcase and Future Prospects Tournament, which will take place from Oct. 21-24, again at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.
